[GRASS-Italia] postgresql e problemi di "shared memory"

ho provato ad initializzare il DB ma senza successo.
il terminale dice che ho problemi di "shared memory" 
???
sulla chat di postgre mi hanno consigliato questa

nella sezione osx ci sono delle indicazioni per me
poco chiare:

 In OS X 10.2 and earlier, edit the file
/System/Library/StartupItems/SystemTuning/   
SystemTuning and change the values in the following
commands:

sysctl -w kern.sysv.shmmax
sysctl -w kern.sysv.shmmin
sysctl -w kern.sysv.shmmni
sysctl -w kern.sysv.shmseg
sysctl -w kern.sysv.shmall
In OS X 10.3 and later, these commands have been moved
to /etc/rc and must be edited there. Note that /etc/rc
is usually overwritten by OS X updates (such as 10.3.6
to 10.3.7) so you should expect to have to redo your
editing after each update. In all versions, you'll
need to reboot to make changes take effect.

SHMALL is measured in 4KB pages on this platform. Also
note that some releases of OS X will reject attempts
to set SHMMAX to a value that isn't an exact multiple
of 4096.

con una ulteriore consultazione in internet mi è stato
consigliato di agire  così:

apri terminale, digita

sudo pico /etc/rc
, premi INVIO, cerca UNA riga con il comando sysctl -w
seguito da MOLTE voci e modifica (il come lo sai tu,
io no....) i valori associati alle keywords elencate
in figura. 
Quando hai fatto salva (vedi menù in basso, CTRL-X
esce e prima ti chiede di salvare (rispondi "y")),
esci e riavvia il sistema...

in che modo modificare i sopracitati file? cosa
inserire come "new-value"?
è un problema comune a tutti gli osx?
come mi devo comportare?
mi conviene "resettare" tutto e reiniziare da capo con
una nuova installazione?  se si, come e cosa devo
cancellare, prima di reinstallare il pacchetto
postgre-postgis che ho scaricato dal sito di "Grass"?
e il nuovo utente che si è creato?
